“Dark Dog”

I’m fairly nocturnal and have spent years wandering downtown Savannah at night with my dog. While we walked, I let my mind wander and I mused over the interesting things I stumbled across, as well as contemplated what other kind of situations and beasts may be lurking in nighttime Savannah. I thought of the duelists near Colonial Park Cemetery and the hustlers along Bull St. I thought of monuments and statues, and what they meant when they were erected, and how they remain today.

When my 14 year old dog died a few months ago, I couldn’t help but with she’d find her way back to Haunted Savannah. Become part of the very lore and mystery she’d helped me explore for a decade. I imagined her coming back as a sort of guide, peaking out of dark alleyways to help lost Savannahians find their way. Her ears always up, her eyes open and aware.

This collection explores her potential new reality, as well as other stories and characters we came across over the years. Here amongst the canvas and paint lies curiosity, history and hope.
